The country around Central Coast
The Central Coast is small acreage and rural-residential country wrapped around waterways, national park and state forest. Holdings are modest, neighbours are close, and most properties share a boundary with bush that nobody is controlling.
The agricultural plateau behind the coast is a different job again. Around Kulnura, Mangrove Mountain and Peats Ridge there is real production country, citrus and poultry among it, and a poultry shed backing onto forest is a fox and wild dog problem of a completely different order to a hobby block.
That geography sets the problem: animals live on land you cannot work and feed on land you can. Control that does not account for the reservoir next door is control that has to be repeated.
What presses hardest here
Species pressure is not the same across New South Wales, and the control program should not be either. Around Central Coast the recurring problems are:
Feral deer moving out of the park and forest country onto pasture, gardens and plantings, damaging fences and creating road risk.
Foxes through the vegetated corridors into small holdings, on poultry, small stock and native fauna.
Rabbits on cleared blocks and disturbed ground.
Wild dogs on the plateau. Greater Sydney Local Land Services' pest animal planning records reported wild dog attacks in the Mangrove Mountain area, which is why a stock or poultry enquiry from up there is treated differently from a coastal one.
Feral pigs in the wetter gullies and creek country on the western side.

Proximity to dwellings and public land is the governing constraint.
